We Belong

Our story

We found a new home.
Now we want to help others find their people.

SCOTT & SKYE

Four years ago, after Skye was awarded Australia's Global Talent Visa, our family took a leap of faith and moved to Australia sight unseen.

It was a huge adventure, a fresh start and a decision that has truly paid off. Our children are thriving, we genuinely love the life we've built in this incredible country, and we wake up grateful every day that our kids get to grow up here. We're honoured to be on the journey toward Australian citizenship and to call this place home.

But even the best adventures come with challenges.

Leaving our entire family and closest friends behind meant starting over without the support system we'd spent a lifetime building. Making new friends and finding our feet took time, and there have been moments when the journey felt lonely.

We've met so many wonderful people along the way, but it's not always easy to explain the unique experience of being an American immigrant building a new life in Australia. From navigating cultural differences to learning how business is done on the other side of the world, there was so much we had to figure out for ourselves.

And that got us thinking: what if it didn't have to be that way for everyone who followed?

What if Americans moving to Australia had a community they could turn to — people who understood the journey, shared what they'd learned and genuinely wanted to see one another succeed?

That's why we created We Belong.

We believe there's something powerful about bringing people together who share a similar experience but bring different perspectives, skills, connections and ambitions to the table.

A community where friendships can grow, professional doors can open, knowledge can be shared and people can support one another through the exciting, and sometimes challenging experience of building a life in a new country.

We want to make that journey easier, more connected and more rewarding for other Americans making Australia their home.

Because while moving abroad means leaving some things behind, it can also be the beginning of something extraordinary. And we believe that when we show up for one another, we all have the opportunity to thrive.

We're building the kind of community we wish we'd had when we arrived — one grounded in generosity, genuine connection and the belief that we're stronger together.

A world away. A community that feels like home.

With love,

Skye & Scott
