Four years ago, after Skye was awarded Australia's Global Talent Visa, our family took a leap of faith and moved to Australia sight unseen.

It was a huge adventure, a fresh start and a decision that has truly paid off. Our children are thriving, and we love the life we've built here.

We're grateful every day that they get to grow up in this incredible country, and honored to be working toward Australian citizenship.

But even the best adventures come with challenges.

Leaving family and close friends meant starting over without the support system we'd spent a lifetime building. Finding our feet took time, and some moments felt lonely.

We've met wonderful people, but it can be hard to explain what it's like to be an American building a life in Australia.

From cultural differences to how business works here, there was so much we had to figure out for ourselves.

And that got us thinking: what if it didn't have to be that way for those who followed?

That's why we created We Belong. We believe in bringing together people who share an experience but bring different skills and ambitions, so friendships can grow and doors can open.

We want to make the journey easier, more connected and more rewarding for Americans making Australia home.

Moving abroad means leaving some things behind, but it can also be the beginning of something extraordinary. When we show up for one another, we all thrive.
